- Description
- There is increased pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the Jeffries Point neighborhood in East Boston due to the “new” apartment buildings (particularly the Portside ant East Pier and Clippership complexes), the Tall Ship, and the expanded Piers Park. But there are no stop signs along the busy Sumner Street at two of the main intersections used to pass through in order to access this part of Jeffries Point: Sumner & Bremen St and Sumner & Orleans St. While Bremen and Orleans streets have stop signs, Sumner is a much busier road and cars tend to drive quickly (and there is a slight hill sometimes making it hard to see in combination with parked vehicles), making crossing as a person or vehicle dangerous, even with the crosswalk there. Stop signs should be added to Sumner St at both of these intersections.
