We understand and appreciate why seeing the flag flown at half-mast in a timely manner is important, especially during moments of remembrance and respect. Your concern is completely valid, and we appreciate you taking the time to share it with us. Our department is currently responsible for maintaining 217 parks and a significant amount of acreage across the system. With our existing staffing and operational resources, there are times when we are unfortunately unable to lower flags as quickly as we would like. In addition to flag responsibilities, our crews are balancing a wide range of daily and weekly maintenance and safety related tasks across all of the properties we manage. That said, we recognize the importance of this issue and will look at ways to better reallocate our resources and improve our response time when half-mast directives are issued. While there are operational limitations tied to the size and scope of the system we maintain, we are committed to doing our best to address these concerns moving forward.
