- Landlord-provided central AC at 15 Channel Center St, Studio 619 (HallKeen Management / Midway Studios) has been inoperable since June 30, 2026. Management confirmed in writing on July 1 that central cooling could not be restored. Indoor temperatures reached 92.6-94°F during the recent heat emergency. Three portable AC units provided as temporary solutions all failed: the first could not cool the unit, the second exceeded the apartment's electrical capacity and tripped the circuit, and when run on an extension cord it operated in fan mode only with no cooling. We were displaced from our home for five nights (June 30-July 4). On July 7, technicians again could not repair the system, and management has provided no written diagnosis, repair plan, or timeline. Management has stated the building's cooling tower needs full replacement. With the City heat advisory for July 9-10 forecasting 96-98°F, the unit will likely become unsafe again. Requesting an ISD inspection to document the condition of the unit and cooling system, ideally during the July 9-10 heat event.
