Description: Rat bites: [No] Rats in the house: [No] Rats outside of property: [No] What is the nature of the problem: [significant and ongoing rodent infestation affecting the property. The issue is primarily concentrated in the basement of the building (currently unoccupied space) and the rear parking lot area. Over the past several weeks, rodent activity has increased substantially. The problem does not appear to be resolving despite private mitigation efforts. We have hired a contractor, and he has been pouring cement in the basement to patch the holes. The rats have been eating through the concrete. We have hired exterminators and nothing is working. I also believe there may be a contributing factor related to street excavation work in the area outside the property. Since then, rodent activity in the vicinity appears to have increased. It is possible the issue has been developing for some time, but is only now becoming clearly visible to us (the landlord) due to the space being vacant. I am requesting an inspection and assistance from the City of Boston’s Inspectional Services Department and Vector Control to: Assess rodent activity on the property Identify possible exterior harborage and entry points Provide guidance or enforcement as appropriate for abatement Please let me know the next steps or if an inspection can be scheduled.]
