Noted. Thank you for your concern, but you are incorrect regarding where the watering bags should be placed and your suggestion does not align with current arboriculture best practices for successful tree planting. The trees were installed by the parks dept urban forestry division under the supervision of multiple certified arborists employed by the city of Boston. The watering bags should be around the stake and since the bag literally hangs over the root system of the tree, the trees roots get plenty of water. 2 bags also means more water for the trees during establishment. Furthermore putting the bags around the stakes prevents trunk rot around the tree that often happens when the bag is installed around the tree itself.
