Description
Silvia Castanos, BTD's Safe Routes to School Planner redirected me for a response to my concerns below. She believes that engineers should address it. Earlier this year, I witnessed a 2-car-accident at an intersection by the Solomon Lewenberg Middle School and the Young Achievers Science and Math Pilot School (K through 8th grade). Since then, I have been thinking about how to improve the visibility of both pedestrians and vehicles at the intersections on both ends of Duke St. How can residents suggest changes to street intersections (crosswalks and direction of traffic) in Mattapan? For your reference, I have attached a visual of my suggestions. Let me know what you think. |

    Case Noted | Reversing a street would require a community meeting to talk about the pros and cons. The Safety Surge Program will be adding speed humps throughout the City and this can alleviate the speeding. Any curb work will have to be handled by Public Works and BTD will contact them to talk about reconstruction alternatives. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.
