Description
Is there a painted crosswalk: [Yes] Is the painted crosswalk faded: [No] Please provide any additional information if needed: [text of e-mail sent to Mayor:At Essex St, Lincoln St, Surface Road, 93 S intersection there is a particularly dangerous area for pedestrians. I literally feel like I'm risking my life as I walk to and from S. Station. Eastbound Essex St. traffic is so anxious to take a right onto either the Surface Road or 93S that they go on the red light. Can this please be changed to No Right On Red and labeled/monitored/enforced? Traffic begins rolling right as soon as the Lincoln St. traffic receives a red light, but while the pedestrian walk light is on. City buses do this also. Often, drivers are actually looking to their left as they are driving right. Pedestrians are forced to either walk right out in front of a car/bus which is moving towards them or wait and dash across at a time when they don't have the walk signal at all. Functionally, it is almost like we don't have a walk signal at all to help us cross. I also see cars in the middle lanes eastbound on Essex go through a red light to go to 93S. Pedestrians have the tiniest of islands between the 93S entrance and the Surface Rd. I walk this route every day and I am describing a situation which happens consistently. This is a pedestrian accident waiting to happen. Thank you for your attention to this matter.]
