  • General Traffic Engineering Request

17 Woodside Ave, Jamaica Plain, Ma, 02130

Constituent is making a request for speedbumps to stop speeding in the area |

    CLOSED #101005173013

Case Noted. Thank you for reaching out to us with your issue. We share your concerns about making the City streets safer and we recently revised our speed hump program so that neighborhoods can receive them more quickly. We aim to slow traffic to make every street in the City safer and more comfortable for walking, biking, and rolling. A map is available on boston.gov that shows which streets in the City will receive speed humps during the first three-year phase of construction. We will continue to update the map as new phases of construction are determined. We plan to design and build speed humps in about ten areas each year for the next three years. This is approximately 500 speed humps per year. Woodside Ave is planned to have speed humps. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.

  • General Traffic Engineering Request

41 Valley Rd, Dorchester, Ma, 02124

Constituent states via email: "I live on valley Road, Dorchester(41). We have a big problem with speeding on the street and people driving the wrong direction on this one way street. When I turn on to a one way street I don’t expect to get into a head on collision! I was wondering if someone could come out take a look and maybe see how it could be better improved with signage or enforcement. This is a safety issue, and I’m afraid someone will get hurt." |

  • General Traffic Engineering Request

Intersection Of Duke St And Ormond St And Outlook Rd, Mattapan, Ma

Silvia Castanos, BTD's Safe Routes to School Planner redirected me for a response to my concerns below. She believes that engineers should address it. Earlier this year, I witnessed a 2-car-accident at an intersection by the Solomon Lewenberg Middle School and the Young Achievers Science and Math Pilot School (K through 8th grade). Since then, I have been thinking about how to improve the visibility of both pedestrians and vehicles at the intersections on both ends of Duke St. How can residents suggest changes to street intersections (crosswalks and direction of traffic) in Mattapan? For your reference, I have attached a visual of my suggestions. Let me know what you think. |

    CLOSED #101005140994

Case Noted. Reversing a street would require a community meeting to talk about the pros and cons. The Safety Surge Program will be adding speed humps throughout the City and this can alleviate the speeding. Any curb work will have to be handled by Public Works and BTD will contact them to talk about reconstruction alternatives. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.
