Broken Sidewalk
25 Lyndhurst St, Dorchester, Ma, 02124Good Morning, We are the Scotts, and we live at 25 Lyndhurst Street. We would like to raise two issues that we are currently experiencing. First, our sidewalk is being damaged by a tree that the city planted. This tree has grown enormously, causing significant damage to the sidewalk and has also resulted in a crack in our stone wall. Additionally, the tree drops round, spiky fruits that pose a danger to unsuspecting pedestrians. I, Jay, have reported the sidewalk problem three times by phone over the last three years. My husband, Mark, has also spoken in person with individuals from your office without any results. We have noticed that other problems on the street have been addressed, but ours have not. There appears to be a demographic correlation between which sidewalks are repaired and the residents living there. We recommend the removal of the tree, as it was not planted with enough consideration for the surrounding property. We are tree lovers and even removed our garage to save a poplar tulip tree behind it, replacing it with a smaller barn. However, we do not feel the same about this tree. The second issue we are facing is that most days we cannot exit our driveway without experiencing significant stress and delays. We urgently need a sign indicating "Don't Block the Driveway" and yellow curb paint. I try to leave for work early every day, but drivers are becoming increasingly bold. This summer, when I had a repair appointment for my car, I had to call the police because vehicles were blocking our driveway. The officer had to go from house to house before finally having the car towed. We are concerned that some people may react violently if they return to find their car towed. As an elderly couple, we would greatly appreciate some proactive action from you regarding these issues. Thank you for your attention to these matters. Best regards, Jay and Mark Scott 25 Lyndhurst Street

Broken Sidewalk
51 Oakmere St, West Roxbury, Ma, 02132City work on creating accessible curbs in our neighborhoods is incredibly shoddy and has caused damage to our property. For some unknown reason (and while we were all at work) the city contractors stuck a huge curb stone on our property line and encased it in the concrete sidewalk. This entire scheme is so confusing and poorly done. The corners are no more accessible than they were with loose piled asphalt on every corner that will disintegrate over the winter. The unneeded curb stone is bizarre and needs to be removed. Can someone please come out and examine, then fix this absurd situation?
