Pest Infestation - Residential
61 Bailey St, Dorchester, Ma, 02124I am submitting a complaint regarding a rat infestation originating from my neighbor’s property. Our homes are directly connected but owned separately. Over the past year, I have had multiple dead rats removed from my unit/basement. They are entering through the foundation of the home and chewing through the basement from the neighbors house to ours (where they have direct access). I have personally witnessed and identified where the rats are entering. They have chewed a hole on the exterior of my neighbor’s house and are accessing their basement through that entry point (photo of hole attached). The shared deck is now covered in rat droppings, and my property has also experienced cockroaches coming from the same premises. This has created a serious health and safety concern. I have attempted to resolve this issue directly by writing to the landlord/owner of the other property, but I have not received a response. The city previously came out and inspected and observed the points of entry and rat droppings (along with trash), and said an abatement would be served. However the neighbors haven’t done anything. I need the City to step in to ensure the property owner addresses this infestation.
CLOSED #101006712797Noted. Will contact the constituent to set up an inspection for the interior of the property. Any questions contact the inspector at brendan.sheehan@boston.gov.
